HISTORY

The school was built in 1906 year under the name of Governmental Commercial Trade School and it was the oldest school of this kind in Serbia.
In 1919 the school was divided on Trade School and Commercial school and it was named Leskovac Trade Youth School L.T.Y. Up to 1924 school was three graded school but from 1925 it was four graded school. The school had 6 classes and 300 students. Although it was a private character school it worked under the curriculum of Government according to the regulations of Belgrade Trade Commercial School. The school distributed the Serbs destiny on Balkan. Armed forces, economic crisis, reforms passed through the school... There were lots of difficulties in school by the time of occupation in order to preserve continuity, but it continued to work regularly after the liberation on March 8th, 1945. In 1946 it was government school and it was named  Governmental Trade School. In 1949/50 the school was rewarded for the best school in PR Serbia. The award was typewriter and the equipment for physical culture. During the visit of our school special board of Chamber of Commerce PR of Serbia stated: “ We should organize by fully respecting tradition, one big boarding school for Serbia and Kosovo since the next year is the celebration for the 50 years’ continuous work of this school. This should be the recognition for enterprising spirit and creative work of these people. Taking tradition of Leskovac and its 50 years schooling into consideration, the narrower Serbia had no better center ever after next to Belgrade.” Trade school for the economy students “Vojislav Nikolajevic” was the name that she got in 1959.
The student interest and its successful school work contributed the foundation of Trade school center “Vojislav Nikolajevic”. In 1963 the catering section for waiters was established, in addition to Trade center, and in 1967/68 the section for cookers and the ones who make grilled meatballs (mixed grill) started to work. From 1971. the school was working in the composition of Economic school Center “Djuka Dinic”. School got out of the structure of economic school center on 22.04.1988. and it continued to work as Vocational School of Trade, Tourism and Catering “Vojisav Nikolajevic”. Up to May 1989 the school was working in building of Economical School with the Economic school, too, when it moved into a new building in the colony of Dubocica. The schools’ building consists of ground floor and 2 floors. School has 2 restaurants: first, open typed restaurant which location in the town and the second one in the school building.
